Ski Jumper and FIS Athletes’ Commission member Katja Pozun (SLO) was presented with the Matteo Baumgarten Award on 3rd April 2016 in Bormio (ITA) at an official ceremony.
Whilst maintaining a busy schedule on the FIS Ski Jumping World and Continental Cup tours, Katja is currently earning a Bachelor Degree in Security and Policing.
“I am very honoured to be the 20th recipient of the Matteo Baumgarten Award and would like to thank the Baumgarten family for having chosen me. We all strive to be the best and to fulfil ourselves not only as athletes but also as students. Receiving this award was a conformation that I’m doing something right and that the hard work is paying off. I want to be an inspiration for younger athletes that we can always find time to study besides doing sport and we have to plan early for our careers after sport. I met many inspiring people at the official ceremony in Bormio and realised that knowledge is appreciated all around the world”, she commented.
The Matteo Baumgarten Award annually commemorates the life of Matteo Baumgarten – a promising skier and philosopher – whose young life was cut short by a tragic car accident.
The award recognises young athletes who are following the path of excellence in sports and education.
