At the traditional spring meetings of the Ski Jumping Sub-Committees in Zurich (SUI) the provisional competition calendars for summer 2016 and the winter season 2016/17 were discussed.
One major change to the initial plan is that Klingenthal (GER) will host the men’s opening World Cup competitions, replacing Titisee-Neustadt (GER) due to reconstruction of the facility.
A new element on the men’s World Cup calendar will be a so-called ‘Norwegian Tournament’ featuring six competitions (5 individual, 1 team) in Oslo, Lillehammer, Trondheim and Vikersund from 11th-19th March 2017. The Norwegian Ski Association is expecting new synergies and a boost for Ski Jumping in the country.
While competition calendars were discussed in detail, no further proposals were made concerning rule changes.
Among the Committees and Sub-Committees meeting were the Sub-Committees for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Youth & Children’s Questions, Jumping Hills, Rules & Control, Ski Jumping Calendar Planning, Equipment & Control, as well as the Ski Jumping Coordination Group.
All proposals will be submitted to the National Ski Associations, before the Ski Jumping Committee finalises its proposals to submit to the FIS Council at its meetings during the FIS Congress in Cancun (MEX) from 5th-11th June 2016.
