Fruitful discussions on development of Nordic Combined

The FIS Nordic Combined meetings in Zurich (SUI) held sessions of the Executive Board and the Sub-Committee for Rules, Officials & Control.

Both meetings discussed provisional competition calendars for summer 2016 and the winter season 2016/17 along with plans for the future of Nordic Combined.

Regarding ladies’ and youth Nordic Combined activities, the Committees agreed to propose a Cup system for next winter, so that overall male and female Youth Cup winners will be crowned at the end of the 2016/17 season. It was also suggested to open up the age category for ladies so they can continue to compete as they become older until a Continental Cup system is in place.

Meanwhile, the FIS Sub-Committee for Officials, Rules & Control was tasked with bringing forward a concept for Season Finals which should feature three events and be built into a compact and marketable event.

Another major agenda point was the evaluation of the changed meter value rule for the large hill which was changed to 1.8/m before last season and was well received by the Committees.

The same process applies as for Ski Jumping of providing the proposals following the meetings to the National Ski Associations for their feedback.
