An international Anti-Corruption Summit attended by 40 nations which gathered 11 world leaders was organised by British Prime Minister David Cameron on 12th May 2016 in London (GBR).
The aim of the conference was to stimulate a global response to tackle corruption in all areas of society. As well as agreeing to a plan of action to tackle corruption in all its forms, the conference dealt with issues such as corporate secrecy, government transparency, the enforcement of international anti-corruption laws, and the strengthening of international institutions. It brought together world leaders and representatives from business and civil society.
FIS was represented by its Secretary General Sarah Lewis at the focus session dedicated to sport.
She stated: ”The concern and support expressed by the Governments and International Organisations at the Summit will undoubtedly help sports organisations deal with corruption and fight to protect clean sport and governance.”
