Next week, the international FIS family will travel to Cancun in Mexico to gather for the 50th International Ski Congress from 5th - 11th June 2016. Here a short overview of the Cross-Country agenda.
The meetings of Cross-Country Committee and its six different Sub-Committees (for Popular Skiing, Roller Skiing, Youth and Children, Cross-Country World and Continental Cup, Rules and Control, and Ladies) will take place from Monday, 6th June, to Wednesday, 8th June.
On several agendas, there are items to develop the sport of Cross-Country Skiing in all its aspects, ranging from youth & children, rules, roller skiing, World Cup calendars and general Cross-Country skiing issues.
A strategic paper on the development of Cross-Country skiing, its values, biggest challenges and opportunities has been created and will be discussed. Another point will be the finalisation of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup calendar 2016/2017 and detailed planning for the next few seasons.
Since a few years the Cross-Country Committee has been dealing with the evolution of classic technique and double poling. The discussion in the Cross-Country Committee will continue.
Another important point will be discussion about new rules for accommodation and travel expenses, which will be valid from the upcoming winter. Last but not least new World and Continental Cup quotas and nomination for World Cup competitions will be discussed and a new system will be put in place already for the next winter.
A detailed summary of all the decisions will be presented after the FIS Congress.
