With the appointment of the new World Championship organisers 2020/21 coming closer and closer, the last days and hours of showcasing their bids have begun for the candidates. The exhibition space in which all of the candidates have their separate booths presenting their bids is one of the centrepieces of the FIS Congress.
The Organisers of the FIS Ski Flying World Championships 2020 and the FIS Alpine, Nordic, Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships 2021 will be elected by the FIS Council on Thursday 9th June. The Candidates will show their concepts to all Congress participants from display stands and will have a final opportunity to present to the Council on Tuesday 7th June. The announcement of the elected Organisers will take place at the Grand Fiesta Americana Hotel on 9th June at approximately 19:00 local time (01:00 CET). A live stream from the announcement will be available on the FIS website.
Different foods and drinks, mingling and many talks about the different venues, the bids or other ski-related topics draw the delegates from all over the world into the exhibition area. Great ideas are featured in all booths, from Nordic candidate Planica’s TV news channel to the suspenders and fifties-dresses clad ambassadors of Oberstdorf’s bid, Trondheim’s by now famed salmon dishes and Chinese and Italian hospitality in the Zhangjiakou and Cortina D’Ampezzo booths. Can there be a better way to discover a World Championship bid than with all of your senses?
