Competition calendars officially approved

At the 50th FIS Congress in Cancun (MEX) this week, the competition calendars for summer 2016 and the 2016/16 winter season were officially approved by the FIS Council.

After Ruka had not been part of the original plan for the winter 2016/17, the Finnish organisers will return to their traditional Nordic Opening spot on the weekend of the 25th and 26th of November if certain requirements which were discussed and set in the committee meetings are fulfilled. Also Nizhny Tagil (RUS) and Vikersund (NOR) still have to meet certain requirements.

Another novelty is the Norwegian week which features six events (four individual and two team) in Oslo (2), Lillehammer (1), Trondheim (1) and Vikersund (2) condensed into nine days in March 2017.

The 2016/17 World Cup season will end four months after the opening in Ruka with the final in Planica (SLO) from March 24th to 26th, 2017.
