FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis, along with FIS Freestyle Skiing Coordinator Joe Fitzgerald and FIS Snowboard Race Director Uwe Beier are currently in Zhangjiakou / Genting Resort (CHN) for the Kick-Off Workshop and the first inspection for the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships 2021.

Besides the technical experts conducting inspections of the venue and its slopes, the FIS delegation is meeting with the Chinese Ski Association, BOCOG the Organising Committee for the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2022, alongside Zhangjiakou City Government and Genting Resort Secret Garden Management to discuss key areas of planning, organisation, alignment with the preparations for the Beijing 2022 Games and to define venue requirements.

The resort will also host the events in these disciplines at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. The Championships will serve a key role as a Test Event for the Games at the highest possible level.

Sarah Lewis commented: ”There is a high level of commitment from all stakeholders at this Kick-Off Workshop to maximise the many opportunities presented by the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in 2021 and it’s a great sign that work is beginning immediately after the election of Zhangjiakou / Genting Resort as Organiser.”
