Oberstdorf wins World Snow Day Line Honours Award 2016

At the strike of 8:00 CET on 1st July 2016 the World Snow Day registration system lit up. Within seconds, registrations from all around the world were flowing in, all with excellent event programmes.

First to register after the official opening was Oberstdorf (GER) who took the Line Honours Award and a CHF 1,000 prize for their event as the first event to register.

Stefan Huber, Head of Event Coordination, said: “What a surprise! We have been an Organiser since the first edition of World Snow Day and therefore we are excited to get this Award. We will to donate the prize money to the “Förderkreis PROSPORT Allgäu / Kleinwalsertal“ to support our young athletes in the region. Thank you FIS for this outstanding initiative!”

The award adds to Oberstdorf’s good month as they were also recently elected the host of the 2021 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.
