With a parallel giant slalom and snowboard cross World Cup event planned for February 2017, FIS Officials visited the promising winter sport resort of Kazan last week to check out the current state of play.
The self-proclaimed future sport capital of Russia situated at the shores of river Wolga is getting ready for its debut as a World Cup host and therefore invited FIS to meet with local authorities and Organisers as well as the Russian federation.
“We were impressed when we arrived. It's a pulsing city, provides a great infrastructure and has successfully hosting various international sport events already,” said Uwe Beier after his visit to Kazan.
With snowboarding being up next in the coming 2017-17 season, the eight biggest city of Russia will strengthen its sport commitment again.
