

FIS officials carried out an official inspection in Kazan (RUS) which will make its debut as a FIS Snowboard World Cup host during the 2016/17 season.
The capital of the Republic of Tatarstan will stage a snowboard cross World Cup from 24th-26thFebruary 2017 as well as a parallel giant slalom World Cup on 25th February 2017.
As part of the visit, FIS Snowboard Race Director Uwe Beier and FIS Technical Advisor Alberto Schiavon inspected facilities and met with Organisers and local authorities.
"We were impressed. It's a pulsing city, it provides a great infrastructure and has successfully hosted various international sport events already," said Beier.
Kazan has proclaimed itself as a future "sports capital" of Russia and has already played host to a series of top events including the FISU Summer Universiade and the World Aquatics Championships.
Moenchengladbach Big Air
Meanwhile, FIS Freestyle Skiing Coordinator Joseph Fitzgerald and FIS Snowboard Assistant Race Director Roberto Moresi were in Moenchengladbach (GER) to inspect the facilities and meet with the Organisers for the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard big air events on 2nd and 3rdDecember 2016.
The spectacular ARAG Big Air will attract more than 130 riders and skiers from over 20 countries to compete on a 49 metre high scaffolding ramp.
Two top live acts - Sportfreunde Stiller and Beginner- DJs and a large product promotion area will feature in an exciting festival event.
“We certainly have enthusiastic and knowledgeable Organisers, a special location, and an exciting programme with great side events. Combining all this with the spectacular big air competition will create a fantastic event”, said Fitzgerald.
“The competitions will be staged on the highest scaffolding ramp we have ever seen, the season before Snowboard big air will make its Olympic debut at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games”, added Moresi.
