The FIS Development Programme Summer Camp for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined was held in Rasnov (ROU) from 26th September- 2nd October 2016.
The programme is focused on the development of Nordic disciplines in nations that lack Nordic skiing tradition, experience and/or facilities. Nations taking part this year included: Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine.
25 male and female athletes benefited from the experience of Kimmo Savolainen and Sandro Sambugaro who led the group. The specialist and Nordic Combined ski jumpers had the chance to jump on the hill of Rasnov. The training programme also offered the possibility to compete in two FIS Cup competitions and in two Carpathian Cup events.
Sandro Pertile, Training Camp Coordinator reported: “After three years of the FIS Development Programme, the level of participants in Nordic Training Camps has been steadily increasing which is a very positive sign.”
The next Nordic Camps will be held during the winter season in Val di Fiemme (ITA) for Cross-Country Skiing from 5th-15th December 2016 and in Tarvisio (ITA), Villach (AUT) and Planica (SLO) for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined from 15th-22nd December 2016.
