The opening weekend for the 2016/17 Continental Cup in Klingenthal, Germany can take place as planned, as snow controller Rudi Tusch and Alexander Ziron of the local OC confirm.
Just two weeks after hosting the World Cup in Ski Jumping, the local OC will welcome about 70 athletes from 16 nations. Due to the Junior World Championships in Park City later in the winter, the traditional U.S. opening had to be moved to the central German venue.
The first teams will arrive in Klingenthal from the upcoming Wednesday onwards. The hill is ready and prepared but due to the low snow situation, the first goal is to prepare a 1.75 km track at the ski stadium in Mühlleiten.
On schedule are a 5 km Individual Gundersen on Friday, followed by two 10 km Individual Gundersen events on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets for the events can be bought for 6 € for the ski jumping part. The cross-country races are free of charge.
