Farewell to a big thinker. Viktor, we miss you!

FIS is joining the Club 5 in expressing his sincere condolences to Viktor Gertsch's relatives and honouring his lifework.

On Saturday, November 26th, Club 5 honorary member Viktor Gertsch passed away at the age of 74 years.

Viktor was not only a visionary thinking and the maker of the Lauberhorn races, he was also a leader in the founding and organizing of Club 5. Internationally recognized, Viktor was the president of Club 5 Ski Classic from 2004 to 2010 during which time he was very active.

His subtlety and human nature was appreciated by all those who knew him. If he had an idea, no loud words were necessary, he did it with pure conviction. HIs network was global and he always thought of tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, never standing still. Wherever he went, he was a welcome guest and dear friend.

In 2010, Viktor retired as the president of Club 5 and was immediately named honorary president. Although he no longer had an official role, his words and thoughts were always gladly received and he always had an open ear for questions.

We, the organizers and your friends of Club 5 Ski Classics will never forget you and thank you for everything that you have done for us.
