FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services to sport by Her Majesty The Queen in the New Year Honours List for 2018.

After the first weekend of the new competition year 2018 fell victim to the lack of snow and warm temperatures in Estonia

Under the umbrella of the FIS Development Programme, a fantastic Cross-Country Training Camp concluded on 20^th December 2017 in Val di Fiemme (ITA) with athletes and coaches from 13 nations*.

With the highly entertaining mix of nations in the results of this season’s Nordic Combined events, the feeling of rising like a phoenix from the ashes is not uncommon in the World Cup these days

Despite a massive effort by organizers and officials, the second of two Audi FIS Ski Cross Alps Tour competitions slated for Val Thorens was cancelled on Saturday due to persistent snow, fog, and wind.

The good winter conditions of the 2017/18 season continue. Austrian Snow Controller Robert Krautgartner gave the green light for the events from the 15h till 17th of December. 

The difficult weather conditions in the Black Forest lead to the cancellation of the qualification at the Ski Jumping World Cup in Titisee-Neustadt on Friday.

In its 20-year history, the Matteo Baumgarten Award has provided EUR 63’000 in funding to athletes who are balancing their athletic carriers with studies. In the 2018 the Award will continue this tradition.
