Favorites ahead in first ladies' training
For ladies' ski jumping the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships started on Wednesday with the first official training. 46 athletes representing 14 nations were participating on the normal hill in Falun.

The top athletes were ahead in the Lugnet-Ski stadium already in the first round. The best jumps were shown by Daniela Iraschko-Stolz of Austria with 89.5 m and Japanese Sara Takanashi with 89 m. With also 89 m, Taylor Henrich of Canada caem in third. With jumps on 88 m, Yuki Ito of Japan, the two Germans Carina Vogt and Katharina Althaus, and Maja Vtic of Slovenia were not far from the top.

The jumps were then a bit longer in the second training round on the HS 100. Sara Takanashi had the best jump with 94 m, from one start gate higher, her teammate Yuki Ito showed the longest jump of the day on 95 m. Olympic Champion Carina Vogt jumped on 93.5 m, Daniela Iraschko-Stolz and Slovenia's Spela Rogelj followed with 92 m and 93 m. Katharina Althaus, Taylor Henrich and Eva Pinkelnig also jumped on 93 m, but like Ito, Althaus and Henrich, started from a higher gate.

Also in the third and final round on the first day of the Championships the usual suspects were ahead. Daniela Iraschko-Stolz, World Champion 2011, won the this training round with 94 m, followed by Sara Takanashi with 93 m. Yuki Ito, Carina Vogt and Spela Rogelj landed at 92 m in the final round of this official training session.

Defending champion Sarah Hendrickson of the USA, who returned to the top after a serious knee injury last weekend in Ljubno with her first World Cup podium in two years, showed an upward trend in the three rounds with the places 23 (82 m), 9 (91.5 m) and 6 (92.5 m).
