COC: Anze Semenic dominates final and takes overall title
The 2014/15 season of the Continental Cup ended on Sunday with the final competition in Nizhniy Tagil (RUS) and another win of Anze Semenic, who was already the best on Saturday.
Under difficult wind conditions, the Slovene laid the foundation for his second victory this weekend with 130 m in the first round. In the final he then showed an outstanding jump on 142.5 m (4.5 m over the official hill record held by Stefan Kraft) and took a more than clear win with 251.7 points.
The second place went to Stephan Leyhe of Germany with 125 m and 127 m and 217.5 points. Tom Hilde of Norway came in third with jumps on 126 m and 123.5 m and a total of 217.1 points.
Poland's Aleksander Zniszczol finished fourth, followed by the best Austrian, Stefan Huber, who was third after the first round but was not able to defend this podium finish. But still this fifth place is a career best result for the 21-year-old. The same applies for Tilen Bartol. The 17-year-old Slovene came in sixth in only his fifth competition in the Continental Cup.
The seventh place went to Pius Paschke of Germany, ahead of Poland's Krzysztof Biegun and Swiss Luca Egloff, who could also achieve the best result of his career at the end of this season. Czech Lukas Hlava completed the Top 10 in this winter's final competition.
Anze Semenic won the overall title of the Continental Cup this season with a total of 901 points, Kenneth Gangnes of Norway is second (638 points), Miran Zupancic follows in third (607 points).
