Bankes and Robanske clinch season's sbx finals in La Molina while Moenne Loccoz and Eguibar take home career's first crystal globe
Charlotte Bankes (FRA) and Christopher Robanske (CAN) have come out victorious of this season's third and last snowboard cross race which took place in La Molina, Spain today and wrapped up the 2015 FIS Snowboard World Cup tour.

Facing tough weather conditions with heavy snow fall in the Pyrenees, 2014 and 2015 junior world champion Bankes, a first timer on a World Cup podium, clinched the ladies' final which was characterised by many passes and tight duels ahead of her teammate Nelly Moenne Loccoz and four-time world champion Lindsey Jacobellis (USA).

“It was a very tight final with tough conditions. It's been some great racing. I will try to continue on today's win next season,” Bankes said.

By securing her third consecutive runner-up finish this season, Moenne Loccoz took home the crystal globe for the first time (2,400) ahead of Dominique Maltais (CAN, 1,900) and Michela Moiolo (ITA, 1,900).

All three title aspirants had met each other in the semi final heat 1 where Moenne Loccoz won the photo finish behind of Bankes and ahead of Moioli and Maltais which equalled the title win.

“It was a pretty difficult race today because of the weather and the snow conditions but we had a lot of fun with the girls. I'm pretty happy to have won the globe today with only second rank finishes,” the two-time world championships silver medallist explained.

In the men's event, Robanske capitalised from a strong start defending his lead in an extremely close men's final crossing the finish line ahead of 2014 Olympic bronze medallist Alex Deibold (USA) and two-time world champion Alex Pullin (AUS).

I cannot really put it into words. I had a really hard season riding well but with some injuries. I woke up today with a good mind set as everybody had the same conditions today. I don't mind this weather they were having today. I'm super happy for Lucas [Eguibar] who was on fire this year, and I'm really happy to get a good result today,” the Canadian commented on his career's second win.

Runner-up Pullin, a two-time World Cup title winner had lost his chance on another crystal globe in the men's final when reigning world champion Luca Matteotti (ITA) bounced him out of balance at the second-to-last kicker whilst being head-to-head for the victory. A victory which would have placed him atop of the final snowboard cross World Cup ranking.

“It was really close today I guess I still feel a little bit of disappointment because if I would have won I would have snatched the globe last second. But Lucas [Eguibar] rode really strong this season and his results deserve the title,” lauded the Australian superstar who had won the crystal globe last second once before back in 2011.

In the end, the rider from down under finished as second of the World Cup ranking (1,700) 390 points behind of Lucas Eguibar (SPA), who placed 9th today and therefore secured a history writing moment with the first ever snowboard World Cup title for his home country.

“I'm so happy to win the globe although the season was so short. I want to dedicate the title to my family and my team. I made a good job in Veysonnaz but was very lucky today,” Eguibar said.
