Young talent on display at FIS Freestyle Junior Worlds in Valmalenco
From 24th March to 1st April 2015, the FIS Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships will showcase over 300 talented youngsters from 27 countries in Chiesa/Valmalenco (ITA). It is the fourth consecutive time that the experienced Organisers are hosting the prestigious event. The Championships kicked off with aerials and moguls competitions on 23rd and 24th March.
During the action-packed week, a total of 36 gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in the 12 FIS Freestyle Skiing event for ladies and men.
The next competitions will be staged as follows:
26th March, 13:30 CET: Dual Moguls
28th March, 13:30 CET: Slopestyle
30th March, 13:30 CET: Halfpipe
1st April, 13:00 CET: Ski Cross
Among the best junior athletes competing are Morgan Schild (USA), moguls World Cup rookie of the year, Margarethe Aschauer (GER), seventh at the Kreischberg World Championships in ski cross, Lloyd Wallace (GBR), recent Europa Cup winner and aerials junior bronze medallist, in addition to halfpipe and slopestyle young guns Beau-James and Jackson Wells (both NZL), among many other.
Freestyle Skiing Coordinator Joseph Fitzgerald stated: “These are great competitions in a special place that has embraced Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding in the past years. It’s fantastic to bring all of these very talented young skiers together in one place where they can compete and have a great experience. FIS would particularly like to thank the community of Valmalenco who has put on this event and World Cups for many years.”
