New World Record in Speed Skiing
On 3rd April 2014, Simone Origone (ITA) beat his own Speed Skiing world record when he raced to a top speed of 252.632 kilometres per hour on the speed skiing slope in Vars (FRA), which even has a section measured at 98% steep.
The 35-year-old four-time World Champion and six-time overall World Cup winner beat his record from 31st March 2014 in Vars by 0.178 km/h. It was in 2006 when Origone set his first major milestone by becoming the first man on earth to ski faster than 251 km/h.
The ladies’ world record is held by Sanna Tidstrand (SWE) with 242,590 km/h.
