After the new control procedure of the FIS to measure the crotch length of the jumping suit was already used at COC and other FIS competitions this summer, the procedure is now also implemented at the FIS Grand Prix in Wisla.
The new measuring of the crotch length at the start got positive feedback by the coaches and the athletes.
"This definitely provides more fairness. Now we have to make sure that the process of the control works out well, everyone needs to gain experience with it", was the common opinion. "A control before the start increases the transparency, the equality of opportunity and the fairness. The control system becomes tighter", FIS equipment controller Sepp Gratzer is convinced of the success of the new measuring system.
"It once again shows that the summer series is a perfect laboratory in order to be prepared for the winter", FIS race director Walter Hofer said after the first day of the Grand Prix 2015.
In contrast to the previous years, the length of the crotch of the jumping suit of all athletes is already measured before the athlete gets on the starting bar. After the measurement and before the start, the athlete is not allowed to make any changes to the suit anymore.
