The German ski jumpers won the second team competition of this year's FIS Grand Prix. With a total of 1033.0 points, Severin Freund, Stephan Leyhe, Andreas Wellinger and Andreas Wank came in ahead of Poland and Norway in Hinterzarten.

Andreas Wank was the outstanding athlete this evening with the longest jumps in both rounds on 103 m and 104 m. Andreas Wellinger could also show an impressive performance with two jumps on 102.5 m. Stephan Leyhe made the 2000 fans happy especially in the final round with 101.5 m. World Champion Severin Freund, who competed for the first time during this Grand Prix season, also jumped over the 100 m-mark with 100.5 m.

Poles strong

The Polish athletes, who took a clear win at the GP opener in Wisla, could not able to jump over 100 m today. Piotr Zyla, Kamil Stoch and Maciej Kot missed this mark by only 0.5 m. Dawid Kubacki, the winner of the individual competition in Wisla, had his best jump with 99 m. Poland scored a total of 968.7 points.

The Norwegians came in third with mixed performances. Rune Velta and Anders Fannemel had one good jump on 100.5 m, Kenneth Gangnes and Phillip Sjoeen had jumps in the double-digits, but they were more consistent. With 961.9 points, the came in 6.8 points behind the second-places Polish team.

Austrians fourth again

The Austrians missed the podium also in the second team competition this summer. In absence of Stefan Kraft, who showed very good performances in Wisla, the longest jump of the team was surprisingly shown by Markus Schiffner with 102 m. Also Thomas Diethart was strong in the first round with 100.5 m. Michael Hayboeck and Andreas Kofler don't seem to be in a good shape yet this summer and so Austria finished fourth with 937.0 points.

Olli with upward trend

The Finnish team came in on a good fifth place. Janne Ahonen was very consistent with 98 m and 97.5 m, Harri Olli improved his performance significantly compared to last week, Jarkko Maeaettae and Lauri Asikainen confirmed their good performances from Wisla. The team scored a total of 926.5 points, 5.1 points more than Slovenia.

Again Robert Kranjec, Nejc Dezman, Jaka Hvala and Peter Prevc were not able to show a good team performance, but at least Prevc should be among the top contenders for the individual competition. 0.4 points behind the Slovenes, the Japanese team, with Reruhi Shimizu, Kenshiro Ito, Shohei Tochimoto and Kento Sakuyama, was seventh. The eighth place went to Switzerland with Gregor Deschwanden, Luca Egloff, Pascal Kaelin and super star Simon Ammann with 914.1 points.

The individual competition in Hinterzarten follows on Saturday.
