Severin Freund the best again

After his success on Friday in Courchevel, Severin Freund also won the FIS Grand Prix in Einsiedeln (SUI). With two jumps on 113.5 m and 260.8 points, the overall World Cup winner came in close ahead of Peter Prevc and Kamil Stoch.

Freund said: "I'm still lacking the elegance in the landing, but this is difficult on this hill. Now I'll go back to training, there's still a lot of work left to do. For me the Grand Prix is over for now. I don't know yet, if I'll be competing again this summer."

Prevc jumped on 112 m and 113 m and missed the win by only 0.5 points. Prevc told afterwards: "My jumps are getting better from competition to competition. Now I'll do more physical training and probably I'll be competing in Hinzenbach again."

Stoch goes on vacation now

Double Olympic Champion Kamil Stoch showed what he's capable of after the disappointing competitions in Hinterzarten and Courchevel with jumps on 111.5 m and 113 m for 257.2 points. He said later: "Today I'm more surprised than satisfied, but of course I'm very happy about the podium result. These were not my best jumps, I'm still working on my inrun position, but I'm on the right track. Tomorrow I'll finally go on vacation, I've waited a long time for that."

The fourth place went to the best Norwegian of this summer, Kenneth Gangnes, with jumps on 111 m and 112.5 m and 256.6 points. Only 0.1 point behind, Dawid Kubacki finished fifth.

Kubacki with bad landing

The Grand Prix leader showed the longest jump of the day with 116 m in the final, but was not able to land in a telemark and so he lost important points in the fight for the podium. Afterwards Kubacki, who won the competitions in Wisla and Hinterzarten, explained that he will probably not be competing anymore until Hinzenbach. So winning the overall title of the Grand Prix seems to be not possible for him anymore.

World record holder Anders Fannemel came in sixth with 254.7 points, German youngster Andreas Wellinger, third after the first round, was seventh with 254.3 points.

Kofler misses podium

Andreas Kofler, who was second before the final, came in eighth with 254.1 points. Phillip Sjoeen was ninth with 253.5 points. After he was on the podium in the last two competitions, Kento Sakuyama finished tenth this time.

Due to the bad weather, there were not many spectators at the hill, but those who came saw a good eleventh place of Gregor Deschwanden, who was the best of the Swiss team. Simon Ammann didn't have a good day and was only 28th. Behind Richard Freitag, Jarkko Maeaettae was the best Finn in 13th, the young Austrian Philipp Aschenwald and Piotr Zyla came in 14th and 15th.

World Champion Rune Velta shared the 22nd place with Stephan Leyhe, they were followed by the best Czech, Lukas Hlava, and French Vincent Descombes Sevoie in 24th and 25th.

Freund takes "Yellow bib"

Severin Freund took the lead in the overall ranking of the Grand Prix with 249 points, Dawid Kubacki is now second. But considering their plans for the next competitions, probably none of them will take the title at the end. This might be a chance for Kento Sakuyama, who is now third with 186 points, ahead of Peter Prevc (171 points) and Piotr Zyla and Kenneth Gangnes (both 142 points).

The next competitions will take place in Hakuba (JPN) two weeks from now.
