Freund in the lead as Ski Jumping Grand Prix reaches halfway mark

The first half of the FIS Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2015 was filled with great excitement. While David Kubacki (POL) won the competitions in Wisla (POL) and Hinterzarten (GER), reigning FIS World Cup Champion Severin Freund (GER) took the victory in Courchevel (FRA) and followed up with a victory in Einsiedeln (SUI).

Freund is currently leading the standings with 280 points ahead of Kubacki (249). With 186 points, in third place Kento Sakuyama (JPN) also has a chance to take over the lead with the upcoming competitions in Hakuba (JPN) where Freund and Kubacki will not compete.

The next stops of the men’s series are:

29th – 30th August 2015: Hakuba (JPN)
5th – 6th September 2015: Tchaikowski (RUS)
12th – 13th September 2015: Almaty (KAZ)
27th September 2015: Hinzenbach (AUT)

Takanashi leads ladies’ standings

Meanwhile the ladies’ Grand Prix got underway in Courchevel with Sara Takanashi (JPN) winning with jumps of 98 m and 97 m. Her teammate, Yuki Ito, and Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (AUT) finished second and third, respectively.

The next stops for the ladies‘ series are:

5th-6th September 2015: Tchaikowski (RUS)
12th-13th September 2015: Almaty (KAZ)

Positive feedback on extended equipment control

The newly introduced equipment control has received positive feedback from athletes and teams alike. The control measures jumping suits at the start gate and no further amendments are allowed on the jumping suits after the measurements.
