First win this season for Peter Prevc

Peter Prevc won the second individual competition in Nizhny Tagil. With jumps of 131.5 m and 139.5 m for a total of 267.4 points, the Slovene came in ahead of Michael Hayboeck and Johann Andre Forfang and took his first win this season.

Slovenia's "Athlete of the Year" said: “Maybe today's competition seemed easy for someone who was watching on TV, but for the competitors it was really hard. It was another competition with changing conditions. I think that I had some luck with the conditions especially in the second round, but I'm also jumping on a high level. The yellow bib doesn't change anything, I have to remain focused on my jumps."

Hayboeck redeems Austrians

Michael Hayboeck earned the first podium for Austria in the fifth individual competition this season with 130 m and 133.5 m and 260.4 points. Hayboeck said: ""It was not an easy competition today. If somebody would have told me that I finish second here today, especially after the bad jump in the qualification, I would not have believed it. It's incredible. Of course there was pressure on our team, also from the media. We knew that we trained well, we only had to prove it on the hill. Today it went great for me. Hopefully this can be a boost for the whole team."

Johann Andre Forfang prolonged the streak of the Norwegians on the podium ending in third with 127.5 m and the new hill record of 140 m and 253.8 points. Norwegian athletes have been on the podium in every individual competition this season. Forfang said: "We worked really well this summer and we have a good energy in our team. We're having a lot of fun this season so far and if it continues like this we can just enjoy it. In the second round I had really good conditions and I can fly really well. It was fun."

Lanisek on his way up

Anze Lanisek came in on a career-best fourth place with 123.5 m and 135 m. The Slovene missed the podium by only 0.2 points. Fifth place went to the winner of the competition in Klingenthal, Daniel Andre Tande, who scored 242.9 points with jumps on 123 m and 136.5 m. After he failed to qualify for Saturday's competition, Kamil Stoch showed what he is capable of and finished sixth with 242.0 points.

Career-best for Deschwanden

Gregor Deschwanden achieved his best World Cup result in seventh with 237.3 points. Anders Fannemel (229.6 points), Kenneth Gangnes (228.3 points) and Andreas Stjernen came in eighth, ninth and 11th and so it was yet another great team result for Norway.

Not a good day for Germany

On the other hand it didn't go that well for the German team. Andreas Wellinger was their best in tenth with 228.1 points. After his win on Saturday, overall World Cup winner Severin Freund finished only 12th this time. Close behind Freund, Swiss Simon Ammann was 13th. Manuel Fettner and the best Czech, Lukas Hlava, followed in 14th and 15th.

Piotr Zyla, Maciej Kot, Klemens Muranka and Dawid Kubacki completed a good result for the Polish team in 17th, 18th, 19th and 21st. Ronan Lamy Chappuis scored points in 23rd, Italian Sebastian Colloredo came in one place behind the French. In front of the home crowd Anton Kalinitschenko was the only Russian in the final round. He finished 28th.

Prevc with yellow bib in Engelberg

With 364 points, Peter Prevc now took the lead in the overall ranking of the World Cup before the final test for the 4-Hills-Tournament in Engelberg next weekend. Severin Freund is second with 327 points. With Kenneth Gangnes, Daniel Andre Tande, Johann Andre Forfang and Andreas Stjernen, follow on the places three to six.
