Home win for Germany in Willingen

Under difficult conditions with changing winds, Richard Freitag and Severin Freund were the outstanding athletes of the German team. Freitag jumped on 141 m and Freund posted the longest jump of the day on 149 m. Andreas Wank said after the win: “We all showed our best performances today, everyone did exactly what he could do. Norway was very strong. For us it was a lot of fun to jump here in front of so many fans, who supported us. We hope that it will continue like that tomorrow and we are already looking ahead to the Ski Flying World Championships."

Head coach Werner Schuster said: "We already had a great day of training yesterday. I'm very satisfied. It was a great performance of the entire team and an amazing jump of Severin, also with a view towards the Ski Flying Worlds. It was the right decision of he jury, also because the fans saw a great competition. Peter Prevc made the mistake, that we were waiting for at the 4-Hills-Tournament. He is still the one to beat. Tomorrow also a few others will have the chance to win."

Forfang best Norwegian

The best athlete of the Norwegian team was Johann Andre Forfang, who jumped on 140.5 m. Kenneth Gangnes also did very well with his 139 m. Also Andreas Stjernen and Daniel Andre Tande showed good performances and so the team missed the win by only 0.6 points.

Austria like in Klingenthal

The Austrians repeated their third place from this season's first team competition in Klingenthal. As expected, Stefan Kraft and Michael Hayboeck lead the team with their jumps on 138 m. Manuel Fettner showed a solid performance, only Manuel Poppinger couldn't keep up with only 118.5 m. With 506.2 points the two top teams were out of reach. "We wanted to be on the podium and now we are happy that we could achieve this goal. We need such successes. Every competition is important and of course we hope that we can confirm this performance also in the upcoming World Championships at home", said Manuel Fettner.

Domen up, Peter down

It was a disappointing competition for the Slovenian team. While Domen Prevc could once again impress with his 145.5 m and Jurij Tepes, who won the qualification for the individual competition on Friday, presented himself in a good shape with 134 m, veteran Robert Kranjec had bad luck with the wind conditions and landed already after 111 m. 4-Hills-Tournamnet winner Peter Prevc probably had his worst jump of the season and so his team came in only fourth with 487.3 points.

23.4 points behind the Czech team came in fifth. Roman Koudelka and Jakub Janda did their best with jumps on 139.5 m and 138 m, Jan Matura and Lukas Hlava showed disappointing performances.

Poland close behind the Czech Republic

Without Kamil Stoch, the Polish team was sixth, close behind the Czechs with 463.7 points. Only Andrzej Stekala could raise some hopes for the individual competition with his 133.5 m. Stefan Hula, Jakub Wolny and Maciej Kot could not follow up on their good performances in the qualification.

For Finland the seventh place with 384.3 points is already little success, Lauri Asikainen and Ville Larinto jumped on 128.5 m and 127.5 m and can hope to score points in Sunday's individual competition. Harri Olli and Jarkko Maeaettae could leave a positive impression.

Disappointing Swiss team

The same fate was shared by Kilian Peier, who only jumped on 98.5 m and lost the chance for Switzerland to achieve a better result than the eighth place already in the first group. Simon Ammann, Gregor Deschwanden and Luca Egloff could also not show their best performances and so they scored only 365.4 points. At least they came in ahead of the Russian team. Denis Kornilov showed a good jump on 126 m. Vladislav Boyarintsev, Ilmir Hazetdinov and Evgeniy Klimov didn't do well and so they finished only ninth and last with 360.3 points.

The individual competition of the World Cup in Willingen will start on Sunday at 3:45 pm CET.
