Team nominations for the Ski Flying World Championships in Bad Mitterndorf (AUT)
(will be updated)
Stoeckl names six athletes
Norway's head coach Alexander Stoeckl has decided to travel to the World Championships with six athletes. Besides the top jumpers, who are currently in the Top 10 of the overall World Cup, Kenneth Gangnes, Johann Andre Forfang and Daniel Andre Tande, also world record holder Anders Fannemel, Andreas Stjernen and Joachim Hauer were named to the team.
"Anders Fannemel's shape is getting better and better, this is good timing for the Championships, Andreas Stjernen is better, the bigger the hill is and Joachim Hauer is too good to not give him the chance to participate", said Stoeckl.
Austrian team with Aschenwald
Five jumpers are on the Austrian team for the championships in front of their home crowd: Stefan Kraft, Michael Hayboeck, Manuel Fettner, Manuel Poppinger and 20-year-old Philipp Aschenwald, who made his debut in the World Cup in Bischofshofen recently.
"We have decided in favor of Philipp because he is one of various young jumpers, who we think have great potential. On the Kulm he shall get the chance to gain valuable experience at a major event. Hopefully this will then help him in the near future", explained head coach Heinz Kuttin.
Ville Larinto, who could score World Cup points for the first time this season with a 17th place on Sunday in Willingen, Harri Olli, Lauri Asikainen and Sebastian Klinga will compete on the Kulm-hill for Finland.
Stoch back on the team
After his break last weekend, Kamil Stoch will return to the Polish team for the Ski Flying World Championships, Piotr Zyla will also be competing again in Bad Mitterndorf. Klemens Muranka, Dawid Kubacki and Stefan Hula were also named to the team by head coach Lukasz Kruczek.
In addition to the experienced athletes Roman Koudelka, Jan Matura, Jakub Janda and Lukas Hlava, youngster Tomas Vancura will also get the chance to take part in this highlight for the Czech Republic. The 19-year-old earned his spot on the team with good results in the Continental Cup, like a third place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen last weekend.
