Johaug and Sundby claim titles as Ski Tour Canada ends Cross-Country World Cup season

After almost four months of competitions, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup season 2015/16 presented by Viessmann came to an end in Canada. For the first time, the Cross-Country season finale was hosted in North America. The Ski Tour Canada featured eight competitions in twelve days and visited four iconic Canadian ski destinations - Gatineau/Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City and Canmore.

With overall Ski Tour Canada victories, Therese Johaug (NOR) and Martin Johnsrud Sundby (NOR) capped their most successful FIS World Cup seasons ever. Both started the final stage pursuit competitions at least 30 seconds behind the leaders Heidi Weng (NOR) and Sergey Ustiugov (RUS) - but showed why they were both the best Overall World Cup skiers during the 2015/16 season - erasing the deficit to win by clear margins.

With the season now completed, Johaug captured her second Overall crystal globe while Sundby won his third consecutive Overall Title. Only Gunde Svan (SWE) and Bjorn Daehlie (NOR) have previously achieved this feat on the men's side.

Meanwhile, the small globes for distance and sprint standings were decided in Canada. The distance globes went to Johaug and Sundby while Maiken Caspersen Falla (NOR) and Federico Pellegrino (ITA) claimed their first sprint titles.
