Pommer surprises at Großglockner Berglauf and Bikechallenge
After finishing their ski jumping training camp in Eisenerz, it was back in the saddle and into the running shoes for David Pommer, Mario Seidl and cross-country coach Jochen Strobel on the past weekend. Invited by their main sponsor Stiegl, Pommer and Strobl started in the bike challenge with Pommer surprising with an overall second place and the win in his category. 1354 m difference in altitude and 17.2 kilometres of running separated Pommer from the finish and cold conditions of -3 °C and snow played right into winter sports athlete Pommer’s cards.

„The race was just great. I just wanted to participate as a training session but we are all race horses. As soon as we’r wearing a bib, a switch is flipped in our heads and it’s full on attack. Actually my goal was just to be better than my coach and then it was the second place in the end! I think I will sign up for next year already now!“, Pommer said after the race.

A day later, coach Strobl had to do the double shift and step into the running shoes with Mario Seidl who ran 13 kilometres with an altitude difference of 1500 metres. „In the training phase in which we are now, variety like this is great. The event at the Großglockner was perfectly organised, thanks to our sponsor for the invitation.“
