FIS Rollerski World Cup is ready to roll in Sollefteå, Sweden

After a month break the FIS Roller Ski World Cup resumes this weekend in Sollefteå, Sweden.

The competition programme begins on Friday, 5th August with a city sprint in free technique. On Saturday 6th August a classic mass start competition is on the schedule, with a start in downtown Sollefteå and finish on the top of a tough climb of Hallstaberget. World Cup programme in Sollefteå ends on Sunday with an individual start competition at Hallstaberget.

For the organising committee in Sollefteå Ski Club the event is very important competitions for the future.

"We will try all our organisation to our big goal, the FIS Rollerski World Championships 3-6 August 2017, everything from timekeeping to the event arrangements," says OC secretary general Mia Karlsson.

"A big thing that we test is to close parts of the centre of Sollefteå in Saturday's competitions," Karlsson continues. We hope that all Sollefteå inhabitants understand this and will come and look at the races. The entire Sollefteå greet all participants and coaches welcome."

Sweden in the World Cup lead  

After the first World Cup weekend in Croatia the Swedish team dominated the races and are in the lead in three of the four classes with Sandra Olsson in senior ladies, Robin Norum in senior men and Marcus Fredriksson in junior men. Elizaveta Bursteva, RUS, is in the lead among the junior ladies. All the Swedish athletes are entered so the battle for the leader bibs will be intense. Other interesting athletes entered to the event are Joergen Brink (SWE), Britta Johansson (SWE), Ragnar Bradvin Andresen (NOR), Anna and Liza Bolzan (ITA) and Emanuelle Becchis (ITA).
