The Polish team still sets the standards in the 2016 summer season. With a win of Maciej Kot, his third during this year's Grand Prix, and the second place of double Olympic champion Kamil Stoch, the team of Stefan Horngacher provided yet another highlight. The third place went to Michael Hayboeck of Austria.
"I'm more and more satisfied with my performances this summer because it's been a while since I was jumping on such a high level. Today's competition was really good, the others also showed very good performances. Kamil, Peter and Michael were really good, so it wasn't easy to win", Kot analyzed his competition. Kot scored a total of 277.0 points with jumps on 115 m and 118 m (the longest jump of the day).
For Kamil Stoch (112.5 m and 117.5 m; 273.0 points), who was already second behind Maciej Kot in Courchevel, the outstanding team result of Poland was most important today. "It was a great competition for our team, with four athletes in the Top 10. It was a great day for us. We are working really hard and I hope that we will be able to follow up on these performances in the winter, even if there's still a long and hard road ahead of us", said Stoch.
Besides Kot and Stoch, Klemens Muranka (6th) and Dawid Kubacki (5th) achieved Top 10 results for Poland.
For Austria's Michael Hayboeck, his third place today was the first podium result this summer. "I'm very satisfied with this competition. Recently I was struggling a bit, I guess that was obvious in Wisla and Hinterzarten. Now I'm very happy that I'm back on the podium after a tough week of training. The difference between here and the competitions in Wisla and Hinterzarten is that I'm now sure again about what I have to do on the hill. I have a clear concept again. That's why I'm competitive again now", Hayboeck told after his jumps of 113 m and 116.5 m (271.9 points).
Peter Prevc of Slovenia came in close behind the best three. Last winter's highflyer is getting better and better and finished fourth with 269.8 points.
The biggest suprises of the day were the performances of Norway's Halvor Egner Granerud and US American Kevin Bickner in seventh and eighth. Both achieved the first Top 10 results of their careers.
With the places 10, 11 and 13 (Wank, Geiger, Siegel) the German team showed a strong performances, but without a top result. Richard Freitag was 23rd, Martin Hamann and Stephan Leyhe failed to qualify for the final round of the best 30 athletes.
Maciej Kot extended his lead in the overall ranking of the Grand Prix with now 380 points. Kamil Stoch (215 points) and Stefan Kraft of Austria (209 points) follow in second and third.
Due to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro the FIS Grand Prix is now taking a break and will continue on August 27th and 28th with two individual competitions in Hakuba (JPN).
