The second Continental Cup competition on the Puijo in Kuopio (FIN) on Sunday morning ended with a win of nordic combined skier Jarl Magnus Riiber.
The 18-year-old Norwegian, who already achieved five podium finishes (among them one victory) in the Nordic Combined World Cup, posted the longest jumps in both rounds with 121.5 m and 129 m and took his first win in an international ski jumping competition with 228.9 points.
"My technique was more stable today and in the first competition I also had some bad luck. I like this hill, it feels almost like ski flying. In winter I will then focus on nordic combined again", said Riiber.
The second place went to Italian Alex Insam, who scored a total of 209.7 points with his jumps of 120 m and 122.5 m and equalled his best COC result so far. He was also second in Bischofshofen last January.
Only 0.1 points behind, Krzysztof Mietus of Poland came in third with 120.5 m and 123.5 m. For the 25-year-old this was the best result since a second place in Kranj six years ago.
Jan Ziobro, who won two FIS Cups on the first two days of competition in Kuopio, finished fourth, 1.1 points behind his teammate.
Tilen Bartol moved up from ninth to fifth in the second round and was the best of the Slovenes. His teammate Miran Zupancic finished seventh, behind Vojtech Stursa of the Czech Republic.
Yuken Iwasa of Japan, who achieved his first COC podium in third on Saturday, showed another convincing performance and came in eighth. Behind him, Aleksander Zniszczol completed the strong result of the Polish team. The tenth place went to Japanese Masamitsu Ito.
Jarkko Maeaettae was, like on the day before, the best Finn. After his win on Saturday he came in eleventh, followed by his teammate Lauri Asikainen.
Peter Prevc of Slovenia is still in the lead of the overall ranking with the 200 points he scored in the season opening in front of his home crowd in Kranj. Jan Ziobro (166 points) and Jarkko Maeaettae (124 points) follow in second and third.
The next competitions of the Continental Cup will be held on August 26th and 27th in Frenstat pod Radhostem (CZE):
