FIS was saddened to learn of the death of legendary Alpine skier and one of the earliest Freestyle Skiing pioneers, Stein Eriksen, He passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the age of 88.

Unfortunately, Matthias Mayer’s injuries following his crash during the Downhill in Val Gardena / Gröden, are more serious than originally expected. Further examinations in Innsbruck revealed a fracture of the 6th and 7th thoracic vertebra. Mayer underwent surgery on 19th December to bolt together the 5th to 8th vertebras.
