Rune Velta is the new World Champion on the normal hill. The Norwegian surprisingly took the title in Falun ahead of Severin Freund and Stefan Kraft.

Cheryl Maas (NED) and Michael Ciccarelli (CAN) have won the season's first slopestyle event of the FIS Snowboard Freestyle World Cup tour which took place in Stoneham, Quebec today as part of the 9th Snowboard Jamboree Festival.

The Audi ski cross World Cup has finally arrived in Tegernsee, Germany, after a tense waiting period following a rescheduling of the event from the final week of January to this upcoming weekend.

For ladies' ski jumping the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships started on Wednesday with the first official training. 46 athletes representing 14 nations were participating on the normal hill in Falun.
