USA's Lindsey Vonn raced to an epic second World Cup downhill victory in as many days.

Today was an unusual day in Beaver Creek. It all started with light snowfall in the morning.

Severin Freund won the World Cup competition in Lillehammer and took his first win this season. After only one round on the normal hill, the overall World Cup winner came in close ahead of Kenneth Gangnes with 94.5 m and 129.7 points. The third place went to Andreas Stjernen.

Therese Johaug and Martin Johnsrud Sundby both of Norway and current overall World Cup leaders had dominant victories in the skiathlon competition in Lillehammer, Norway.

From the outset it seemed likely that the season-opening Audi ski cross World Cup event at the new venue in Montafon, Austria, was going to be an explosive way to launch the 2015/16 season.

The magic between American Lindsey Vonn and the Canadian resort happened again as she continued her dominance in the first ladies' downhill of the season on Friday, winning her 16th World Cup race on this hill.

The race week-end in Beaver Creek started with an amazingly sunny day. A big crowd was present at the Talon Stadium for the second downhill of the season and cheered for the athletes coming down the famous Audi Birds of Prey racetrack.

Sara Takanashi has won the first competition of the new season of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup Ladies. The Japanese took the win and celebrated her 31th World Cup win with jumps of 95,5 and 97,5 metres and 251,7 points ahead of Maja Vtic and Maren Lundby.

Good news also for the Continental Cup athletes who will start their season with the traditional US Opener in Park City and Soldier Hollow. Snow controller Alan Johnson just gave green light for the events in terms of the snow situation.
