Sebastian Colloredo and Evelyn Insam won the Italian national Championships on the normal hill on Sunday. 

The 2014/15 men’s season of the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup got under way under blue skies and dream conditions on the Rettenbach Glacier in Sölden (AUT). 

The 2014/15 Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup opened the Rettenbach glacier in Soelden (AUT).

The leaves are turning, there’s a chill behind the mountain air and those dreamy photos of Ushuaia are tucked away for another year. Yes, it must be time for Sölden.

About eight months after the last Olympic Winter Games, the Russian national Championships were now held on the hills in Sochi.

In 2013 Audi New Zealand entered a successful partnership with the Games held biennially in Queenstown, Lake Wanaka and Naseby creating “The Audi quattro Winter Games NZ”. 

Traditionally the Opening race in Sölden marks the official beginning of a new World Cup season and provides a first taste of winter wonderland for ski fans around the world. Unfortunately, nature sometimes has it’s own plans and in 2006 when the Sölden race had to be cancelled due to lack of snow, the ski world had to adapt accordingly. This year, Sölden has once again been hit by warm temperatures in the lead up to the event but the hard work the OC put in to preserve the course paid off and today the 2014 races were confirmed. 

The U.S. Freestyle moguls team is returning home this week from 13 days of training in Zermatt, Switzerland. Camp conditions were slightly challenging for the skiers, with an icy glacier and a bit of new snow to round out the rock solid moguls

Bryan Fletcher added another jewel to an already star-studded Nordic Combined career, winning his first national title at the U.S. Nordic Combined Championships in Lake Placid. Fletcher parlayed a strong jump to take the win in roller skiing over brother Taylor, who won the roller ski. Adam Loomis took bronze. Despite a career marked by a World Championship medal and King's Cup victory, it was Fletcher's first U.S. title after a host of bronze medals.

Dutch youngster Michelle Dekker has celebrated a perfect start into the new winter season. At SnowWorld Landgraaf, formerly known as World Cup fridge, the 18-years-old goofy rider won both races (NC and FIS Race) held last weekend which marked the start of the contest season in Europe.
