Johaug takes over Tour lead with victory

It was a Norwegian sweep of the ladies' 15 km mass start classic competition and Therese Johaug left little doubt who is the favourite in this year's 10th Tour de Ski with a dominant win on stage 2 in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
Peter Prevc fights back in New Year's competition

Peter Prevc won the New Year's competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. In the second leg of the 64th 4-Hills-Tournament the Slovene took a clear win, ahead of Kenneth Gangnes and Severin Freund, with jumps on 133.5 m and 136 m and a total of 272.7 points
Falla and Pellegrino lead after stage one of Tour de Ski

Maiken Caspersen Falla of Norway and Federico Pellegrino of Italy have continued their impressive starts to the season by winning the 1.5 km free technique sprints in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. For each they have now recorded their third sprint victories of the year out of a total of 4 sprint competitions held so far.

Hansdotter hangs on for slalom win in Lienz

Lienz, Austria – In the lead after the opening leg, Sweden's Frida Hansdotter held on to her position and clocked an overall time of 1:47.02 to finish just 0.07 seconds ahead of Switzerland's Wendy Holdener. Slovakia's Petra Vlhova came third, 0.43 seconds out.

Gut sparkles in Lienz GS

Second after a very tight opening run, Swiss ace Lara Gut gave it all out in the second run to claim her 16th career World Cup win in perfect snow and weather conditions. She posted a combined time of 2:06.00 to edge Tina Weirather of Lichtenstein by 0.12 seconds, while Viktoria Rebensburg of Germany came third, 0.30 seconds off the pace.
Akito Watabe claims national title

For the Japanese athletes, the national championships were on schedule in the World Cup break over Christmas and the new year at Nayoro in the north of the Hokkaido island this past weekend. As to be expected, team leader Akito Watabe took the title ahead of Takehiro Watanabe and Hideaki Nagai.
