The Council appointed Chris Grover as the new Chairman of the Cross-Country Sub-Committee for World and Continental Cups. 

Canada’s Beckie Scott became the first Canadian and indeed first North American to win an Olympic Gold medal in Cross-Country Skiing at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City (USA). 

The FIS Roller Ski World Cup 2013 is slowly reaching its halfway point. Already nine of a total of 22 competitions have taken place since it began in Oroslavje (CRO) on 22nd June 2013.

Slovenia’s ski cross crystal globe champion from 2011/12 has recently become a member of the FIS Athletes’ Commission. His winning surge and outgoing personality have earned him the fastest growing fan club on the circuit in the past years. 

The Children ski festival “World Snow Day”, which took part at Viksa previous season, got a certificate of the International Ski Federation (FIS).

After the FIS Grand Prix started in Wisla, Poland, last summer, the opener of this summer series with the world's best ski jumpers will take place in Hinterzarten (GER) again this year. Like already last year, men and women will compete in Hinterzarten.

During most summers, some teams make changes in staffing and with the Sochi Games around the corner most National Ski Associations are fine-tuning their support personnel in order to have the best possible teams working together. 

The online registration tool for the FIS Season Accreditation for the 2013/14 season has opened. 

The FIS Medical Committee recently circulated a letter to the National Ski Associations to bring to their attention the importance of cardiovascular and lung resuscitation (CVPR) which may confront all at anytime and anywhere. 

The disciplines of Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard share not only some of the same infrastructure on the slopes with the events of pipe, cross and slope, but also in terms of television coverage which has seen a significant rise in the past season. Recent broadcast figures provided by TV & marketing rights holder Infront Sports & Media, which measures the TV transmissions by its licensed broadcasters around the world have highlighted some of the growing trends in both disciplines.
