



With only hours left until the start of the 11th edition of the Viessmann FIS Tour de Ski all Tour organisers report good snow conditions. The competition programme of the Tour will be carried out as planned.

The last World Cup race before the very short Christmas break – a men’s night slalom – is taking place this evening in Madonna di Campiglio, a very esteemed Italian resort known by the fans for its long tie with the World Cup tour and by tourism experts for some of its most historical days, when that beautiful region was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.



FIS has studied the WADA McLaren Investigation Report part 2, which was published on Friday 9thDecember 2016 relating to doping allegations in Russia and especially in connection with the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

For the Alpine athletes, last weekend featured the technical aces in the Audi FIS Ski World Cup. An incredibly tight ladies giant slalom race unfolded on the legendary “Kandahar Giovanni A. Agnelli” slope in Sestriere (ITA) on Saturday with Tessa Worley (FRA) earning victory ahead of Sofia Goggia (ITA), who keeps exploiting her positive momentum.

A memorial service for Viktor Gertsch, former President of the Organising Committee of the classic Lauberhorn races in the Swiss alpine resort of Wengen, who passed away on 26th November at the age of 74, was held in Interlaken (SUI) on 13th December 2016.

FIS is joining the Club 5 in expressing his sincere condolences to Viktor Gertsch's relatives and honouring his lifework.

Local Organizing of La Clusaz (FRA), the French Ski Association (FFS) and International Ski Federation (FIS) are happy to announce that the FIS Cross-Country World Cup in La Clusaz (FRA) is going to take place as scheduled from 17th – 18th December 2016.
