It was a tough start into the Sprint competition weekend in Planica (SLO). But despite ongoing rain and a lack of snow the competition field was excited about the upcoming challenge. Cross-Country is a true Outdoor sport and the achievements of todays Sprint proved that once more.
For the fans in Val d’Isere, the wait for today’s Audi FIS World Cup slalom race was worth the wait as Frenchman Alexis Pinturault dominated the field picking up the victory with a 1.44 second margin. It was his 25th career World Cup podium, but his first in slalom in nearly six years.
The FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup was in full racing mode on Saturday evening on the slopes of Cortina d’Ampezzo, where Ramona Theresia Hofmeister (GER) and Roland Fischnaller (ITA) took victories after an exciting and hard-fought evening of parallel giant slalom racing.
Once again, the snowfall overnight brought some hard work for the famous Slad Dogs crew that, in the end, have been able to put together two downhill races and one SuperG in perfect conditions.
It's the fourth consecutive slalom victory for Shiffrin in Vermont, the American ski star emerged victorious in front of 11.000 screaming fans, putting together two solid runs.
